In the wake of a severe weather event that recently swept through Carrollton, city crews and Republic Services have been diligently working to collect over 1.2 million pounds of brush and bulk. With the storms now passed, residents have seen teams out in force as they work to clear the debris and restore a semblance of normalcy to the affected areas, the City of Carrollton reports.
The clean-up efforts have extended through the weekend with city crews and Republic Services operating jointly on delayed routes. In a concerted effort to quickly remove debris, the City of Carrollton has offered a free landfill drop-off for residents, covering the cost for up to 3 cubic yards of storm debris. The Camelot Landfill (580 Huffines Boulevard) will be the drop-off point. To utilize this service, residents are reminded by the city's announcement to bring a valid ID and water bill as proof of residency. This service aims to ease the burden on collection routes and accelerate the cleanup process.
For those who can leave their debris curbside, there's no need for bagging, as city crews will collect any non-bagged debris during their regular service routes. The City has issued specific instructions on how to place items out for collection—for fastest pickup, items should have a minimum of 16 feet overhead clearance and should not be within three feet of other objects such as fences, utility boxes, or parked cars.
As part of the ongoing recovery efforts, all city facilities, except the Indian Creek Golf Club and Oak Creek Tennis Center, have resumed normal operations. Additionally, traffic advisories have been updated with major routes like Dickerson Parkway being reopened as crews complete repairs on downed power lines. Despite the challenges, power has been largely restored with only a small fraction of Carrollton's Oncor customers remaining without service. Residents still experiencing outages are encouraged to reach out directly to their providers and are reminded to exercise extreme caution around any downed power lines, as emphasized in the City of Carrollton's updates.
