In the recovery from last year's damaging storms, Carrollton officials have announced an Arbor Day initiative aimed at returning the verdant landscape to its former glory. On April 19, Carrollton residents will have the opportunity to aid in these restoration efforts by participating in a tree giveaway, as reported by the City of Carrollton's official news release. The event, which commemorates trees lost to harsh weather last May, will offer 300 trees on a first-come, first-served basis, with a stipulation of one tree per household.
Those interested must preregister starting March 25 at 8 a.m., and the City will be sending an immediate automated acknowledgment of registration. At the Arbor Day event, proof of residency will be required to claim a tree. The available species include crape myrtle, cedar elm, live oak, red oak, or vitex. Moreover, the trees provided will arrive in a five-gallon bucket with heights ranging between five and eight feet. Registrants who fail to receive a confirmation email by April 10 are encouraged to reach out via email or the provided phone number for assistance.
Preregistration procedures for this community-enhancing program are straightforward: provide your details, choose your preferred tree species, and mark the date for pickup. The city staff will be on hand to ensure a smooth process, confirming the list of registrants leading up to the event. And if plans change, residents who find themselves unable to retrieve their sapling on the designated day are requested not to register, prioritizing those who can commit on April 19.
