
A deadly shooting took place on Wilkinson Blvd. in Charlotte yesterday, leading the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit to initiate an investigation. According to the CMPD news release, officers responded to a call about an assault with a deadly weapon shortly before 2 a.m. in the 4800 block of Wilkinson Blvd., where they found a man with a gunshot wound following an altercation with armed security.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, received critical injuries and was transported to Atrium Main, where he was pronounced dead. In the unfolding of this incident, detectives arrived on scene to lead the investigation, while Crime Scene Search teams worked meticulously to process the scene and gather physical evidence. Support services including CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, and the Charlotte Fire Department were also present to aid.
