The National Weather Service reports that dry air and low humidity levels, expected to fall below 25%, combined with gusty winds, create conditions conducive to wildfires. Outdoor burn bans are in effect to help prevent fires.
The National Weather Service reports that Charlotte will have sunny skies with temperatures reaching a high near 72°F. Winds, which are calm this morning, will become gusty in the afternoon, further contributing to fire danger. Winds could gust up to 35 mph in mountain areas and 25 mph in other regions, while humidity will drop below 25% in most areas and stay around 25% in mountain valleys. Tonight, cloud cover will increase with lows around 55°F and south winds at 7 to 10 mph, gusting up to 21 mph.
Monday’s forecast calls for showers before noon, followed by additional rain after 2 pm, with skies gradually clearing to mostly sunny. The high will again be around 72°F, with southwest winds at 11 mph and gusts up to 24 mph.
The rest of the week will see rising temperatures, peaking at 81°F on Saturday. Clear skies and warmer weather will follow today’s fire danger, but caution is still advised.
