Chatham County is gearing up for a vibrant celebration of agriculture with its 5th annual Spring Ag Fest, set to take place at the Chatham County Agriculture & Conference Center (CCACC) on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The event, which is open to the public and free of charge, promises to shine a spotlight on the diverse agricultural practices and natural resources of the region, according to information provided by Chatham County's official announcement.
The fest is expected to be an engaging affair, rain or shine, with potential weather impacts only threatening to dampen outdoor activities. Offering a wide array of exhibits and vendors, this year's event will be home to representatives from local farms, farmers' markets, and organizations supporting sustainable agriculture, beekeeping, livestock, forestry, green industry, conservation, and much more. The gathering seeks to encapsulate the spirit, and the businesses, of Chatham's agricultural community.
No one gets left behind at this family-friendly festival, which includes activities for guests of all ages. Children can jump into the 4-H Kids' Zone for games and farm-themed crafts, or be mesmerized by Farmer Ed's Ready, Set, Grow Agricultural Magic Show. Meanwhile, the Livestock Arena will play host to various demonstrations and events like working dog showcases, barrel racing, and the ever-popular Parade of Breeds.
Those coming to the fest with an appetite will not be disappointed, as ten food trucks will be on-site serving up an array of culinary delights. And getting there should be a breeze, as Chatham Transit offers shuttle service to and from several locations including Central Carolina Community College Main Building, the Chatham County Justice Center, Chatham County Sheriff’s Office Annex, and the Pittsboro Parking Lot. The array of partners making this year's Ag Fest possible includes the N.C. Cooperative Extension - Chatham County Center, Chatham County Agriculture & Conference Center, Chatham County Farm Bureau, and several other local government and service agencies.
