Willie Greenwood, a 27-year-old Chicago resident, is facing a serious felony charge after allegedly committing an armed robbery against a 65-year-old male. Greenwood, who resides on the 500 block of W. Walton, has been charged with one count of armed robbery with a firearm, along with a citation for replica firearms/pellet guns, as confirmed by a recent Chicago Police Department report.
The incident in question took place shortly before midnight on Wednesday, when the alleged perpetrator was reported to have utilized a firearm to swiftly rob the senior citizen in the 200 block of W. 24th St. Within less than an hour, Greenwood was apprehended in the nearby 200 block of W. 23rd St. Law enforcement officials were able to determine Greenwood as the suspect in the case.
A detention hearing is now set for Greenwood, which will take place at 2600 S. California today.
The authorities have yet to fully disclose additional information as the case develops.
