
A recent spate of vehicle burglaries and vandalism has hit Chicago neighborhoods in the 16th District, according to a community alert issued by the Chicago Police Department. The affected areas include O'Hare, Oriole Park, Norwood Park East, and Norwood Park West.
Perpetrators have been operating in these neighborhoods overnight or in the early morning hours of Saturday, targeting motor vehicles. Reports describe an unidentified group of 4-5 individuals arriving in a blue sedan, smashing windows to gain access to the interiors of parked cars looking for valuable items to take.
The locations of the incidents are widespread, with addresses on the 7700 block of W. Higgins Rd., the 5600 block of N. Cumberland Ave., various blocks in Oriole Park, and the 6000 to 7800 blocks of W. Rosedale Ave. among the places hit.
There is currently no detailed description of the suspects beyond their approximate number. The Chicago Police urge the public to report any suspicious activity immediately and advise against pursuing any fleeing suspects. Instead, note any unique characteristics of the individuals and, provide this information to law enforcement. They also recommend securing the contact information of any witnesses to the incidents.
