Clevelanders, brace yourselves for a mixed bag of weather this week. According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, high pressure will keep things dry into Wednesday before a front sweeps in, potentially kicking up some gusty conditions.

Warmth well above seasonal norms is set to grace the area, with temperatures forecasted to hit the low 70s by Wednesday. "Could get several degrees off of record highs on Wednesday, particularly at CLE/ERI where temperatures usually overperform in this type of setup," NWS stated. Those south of I-77 need to be on alert as winds are expected to rapidly pick up, with sustained speeds around 20 knots and gusts that could reach up to 35 knots in the region.

Things take a turn Wednesday night as an upper-level trough moves east, which means the dry spell is about to get soaked. A low-pressure system trailing behind it could bring gusty winds and convection into the Great Lakes region, setting the stage for rain showers on Thursday. However, don't expect the winter coats to make a comeback—NWS Cleveland predicts little to no snow accumulation through Thursday night.

By Friday, high pressure swings back into the area and should provide a full day's worth of sunshine and more temperate conditions. Yet, don't get too comfortable. An incoming clipper system plans to quickly disrupt Saturday's forecast, bringing a chance for scattered rain showers. Following the fleeting disturbance, high pressure is set to take the helm once again, offering up clearer skies and calmer winds for Sunday.

Mariners take note: Lake Erie's going to get a touch rough. Prior to the Thursday front, the waters could need a small craft advisory due to strengthening southerly winds. "A cold front crosses the lake on Thursday, with higher confidence of 20+ knot winds and 4+ ft waves for most of Lake Erie on Thursday into early Thursday night," according to the NWS. As for the weekend, expect brief periods of 20-knot winds with the passing clipper before high pressure smooths the waves come Sunday.
