
Tragedy struck the 3200 block of Sterling Ln. in Columbus when a young man, Daymir Hill, just 19 years of age, became the victim of a shooting in the early hours yesterday. Columbus Police responded at 1:56 AM to reports of gunshots, which ultimately led to their grim discovery of Hill, unresponsive due to a gunshot wound. The Columbus Fire medics swiftly transported Hill to the local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:15 AM, according to the Columbus Division of Police.
Hill's passing is another stark reminder of the fragility of life as a dispute erupted into lethal violence. Witnesses provided a suspect description leading to a swift arrest within hours—20-year-old Davaun Wilkerson, now facing a murder charge. An argument between the two young men is believed to have escalated, although the investigation remains ongoing to solidify the motive behind the tragic event. Hill's family has been notified of the devastating loss.
