Tragedy struck the 3200 block of Sterling Ln. in Columbus when a young man, Daymir Hill, just 19 years of age, became the victim of a shooting in the early hours yesterday. Columbus Police responded at 1:56 AM to reports of gunshots, which ultimately led to their grim discovery of Hill, unresponsive due to a gunshot wound. The Columbus Fire medics swiftly transported Hill to the local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:15 AM, according to the Columbus Division of Police.
Hill's passing is another stark reminder of the fragility of life as a dispute erupted into lethal violence. Witnesses provided a suspect description leading to a swift arrest within hours—20-year-old Davaun Wilkerson, now facing a murder charge. An argument between the two young men is believed to have escalated, although the investigation remains ongoing to solidify the motive behind the tragic event.
