
Columbus Division of Police has provided an update on a recent double homicide that took place on the east side of the city. The incident, which occurred last Wednesday, resulted in the tragic loss of 42-year-old Antwan Lewis and 31-year-old Harold Forrest III, both of whom sustained fatal gunshot wounds. According to the official social media post by the Columbus Division of Police, one victim was pronounced dead at the scene. At the same time, the other died shortly after being transported to a nearby hospital.
In the days following the vicious shooting, detectives charged 32-year-old Brandon Colbert with two counts of murder related to the case. Colbert was arrested on March 1. The investigation continued, leading to additional charges on March 2, when 33-year-old Abdou Seye was also charged with two counts of murder. Seye was located and arrested a day later in Detroit, MI, by agents with SOFAST and the US Marshals. Following his arrest, homicide detectives interviewed Mr. Seye, who is currently being held at the Wayne County Jail in Michigan, awaiting extradition back to Franklin County.
The case has drawn attention to issues of gun violence within the community, as residents grapple with the impact of such crimes on families and neighborhoods. The Columbus Division of Police has yet to release further details about the motives behind the shooting or the relationship, if any, between the victims and the suspects. However, the swift action of law enforcement in apprehending the suspects provides some solace to a community seeking answers and justice.
