In a gesture aiming to build bridges between law enforcement and young students, members of the Columbus Division of Police recently paid a visit to Linden Park Early Childhood Education Center. According to a social media post from the Columbus Police, Officer Lutz, Officer Poole, and Officer Smith-Davis attended the school as part of the 'Books and Badges' program on March 8th. During their visit, the officers read the book "The Caring Me I Want to Be" to the students, shared a dance, and even signed books.
The initiative, which promotes kindness and community engagement, was well received by the students who participated in the activities. Alongside the storytelling session, the officers' involvement extended to an energetic dance party, adding fun to the event. The officers took the opportunity to interact with the children in a setting that fostered mutual respect and understanding.
