
A tragic head-on collision occurred on Cleveland Avenue near the Minerva Avenue intersection Sunday night, claiming the life of a local woman, according to official reports. The Columbus Division of Police has shared details regarding the fatal accident that took place yesterday, around 10:18 p.m. A gray Hyundai Elantra, driven by Ms. Melany V. Devore, 30, crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a tan Honda Odyssey.
The press release issued by the Columbus Division of Police indicates that the driver of the Odyssey sustained only minor injuries in the crash and was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital for treatment. Ms. Devore was also transported to the same hospital but, unfortunately, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at 11:05 p.m.
The Accident Investigation Unit of the Columbus Division of Police responded to the accident and is conducting an ongoing investigation to discern the circumstances that led to the tragedy. Officials have not publicly speculated on what may have caused Ms. Devore’s vehicle to veer into the northbound lane.
