Amid a rise in fire incidents, a recent challenge faced by Hammon firefighters underscored the strong sense of community and support within and beyond the emergency response profession. On March 14, during a fire emergency that nearly engulfed their fire truck, firefighters were forced to break a window to access the vehicle—a decisive act captured in a viral video reported by News 9 Stormtrackers Val and Amy Castor.

In the aftermath of this incident, Dallas Wilson, owner of Wilson Auto Glass, saw the footage and felt moved to offer his expertise. "I had seen that and thought, 'well, that's my way of being able to help,'" Wilson told News 9. His generous contribution, alongside the support from Petro Diesel in Weatherford, provided the Hammon Fire Department with a much-needed new window for the converted military surplus vehicle used for firefighting operations.

On a parallel note, Geary High School suffered a significant fire on the same day, resulting in extensive damage to the school's gymnasium. According to KFOR, Blaine County Emergency Management reported fire damage to restrooms, and one classroom, along with additional smoke and water damage permeating throughout the high school facility.

As a consequence, school officials announced that Geary High School students will likely be unable to resume classes on the following Monday, with the building reportedly "smoked out" from smoke and water damage. "The fire marshal is on scene," reported KOCO, highlighting ongoing assessments and the likelihood of a temporary cessation of educational activities to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff.
