John Garrison, a 53-year-old convicted child rapist released on parole just two months back, faces new charges after a series of alleged sexual offenses in Queens. Previously imprisoned for the 2007 rape of a 13-year-old girl, Garrison has found himself behind bars once more. According to ABC7 New York, his parole period was marred by accusations that include the sexual abuse of a 10-year-old girl.
Garrison’s most recent arrest was instigated by a string of incidents, the details of which were outlined in The New York Post. These began on Monday with an instance where he allegedly exposed himself to a 51-year-old woman in Woodhaven. By Wednesday, Garrison had supposedly escalated his predatory behavior, groping a girl and threatening, “I’m going to kill you,” according to sources quoted by The New York Post. Within just half an hour of this encounter, he was accused of masturbating in front of a hair salon in the same neighborhood.
The string of allegations continued with Garrison reportedly yelling lewd comments at a 23-year-old woman and being caught in the act of public lewdness. ABC7 New York reports that Garrison's notoriety in the area led to his capture after NYPD officers recognized him from a wanted poster and saw him pull his pants down. This arrest comes after 13 prior arrests that span his adult life, culminating in nearly two decades spent in prison before his January parole.
Now, Garrison faces a litany of charges including four counts of public lewdness and more serious charges involving a minor. "He’s now facing new charges of sex abuse, public lewdness, and acting in a manner injurious to a child," ABC7 New York states regarding Garrison's legal predicament.
