A routine traffic stop took an unexpected turn on March 21 when a driver led deputies on a chase before crashing and being apprehended. Constable Mark Herman’s Office attempted to pull over the vehicle around the 7700 block of FM 1960 Rd W, but the driver, identified later as Ira Byars, refused to obey, initiating a pursuit.
After losing control and crashing his vehicle, Byars attempted to evade capture by fleeing on foot, but the brief foot chase soon ended with his arrest. Byars, who is revealed to be a convicted felon, was then charged with Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle, with law enforcement setting his bond, leading to further proceedings in the court of law.
In an update shared on the Constable's official Facebook page, "Ira Byars was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle. His bond was set at $1,000.00 out of the 487th District Court," stated Constable Mark Herman.
