A man from Covington, Tennessee has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of sexual assault involving underage girls. According to the Covington Police Department via an official social media post, they began an investigation last November after receiving a complaint which led to the discovery of several potential victims aged between 12 and 15 years old. During the investigation, victims identified 20-year-old Ja’Marreous McKinnis from his social media nickname "Bando" and other variations such as "BXNDO."
McKinnis was arrested yesterday after an arrest warrant was executed at his residence on Simonton Street. Upon confirmation of his identity, McGinnis, who was also on out-of-state probation for an alleged weapon charge, was taken into custody. As reported by WREG, he has been formally charged with rape of a child and is set to appear in Tipton County General Sessions Court on March 11. Despite the arrest, law enforcement officials urge that the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected.
The police have asked parents to discuss with their children if they have corresponded with "Bando" and advise anyone with information on similar incidents to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at 901-475-1261. Tips can also be sent through the Covington Police Department Facebook messenger or the City of Covington website. As this case develops, further updates are expected, especially as authorities consider the possibility of additional victims, who may come forward in light of these recent developments.
