Shelby Lynn Hill, a 54-year-old insurance broker from Crystal Beach, Texas, was sentenced to one year and one day in prison for fraudulently obtaining Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) funds. Hill pleaded guilty to wire fraud in June 2024 after using falsified documents to secure loans. She created a fake cattle farming business, Plateau Angus Farms, and obtained a $220,645 PPP loan based on fabricated employee records and other counterfeit documents. Hill also applied for an additional $42,700 loan for another non-existent company, Premium Persians of the Plateau, as per the U.S. Attorney's Office release.

Furthermore, Hill misused funds intended to maintain payroll by using them to install a swimming pool at her home instead. She also submitted false employee information, using health insurance customers' details without consent to gain more funds. Hill was ordered to repay $264,645 in restitution and will serve an additional year of supervised release after her prison sentence.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI’s Cookeville Resident Agency, part of the Nashville Field Office.
