A Davidson County man has been ensnared by the long arm of the law for alleged insurance trickery, with North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey revealing the arrest of 22-year-old Nathan Hadley Falsion, residing at 205 Eden Park Dr., Wallburg, for two counts of insurance fraud and an additional count of trying to obtain property under false pretenses, a trifecta of felonies. Falsion, according to an investigation by the NC Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division, purportedly filed a bogus claim with Allstate Property and Casualty Insurance Company claiming his vehicle had been stolen following a hit-and-run accident, elaborately crafting and submitting counterfeit documents to bolster this sham and endeavoring to secure a $35,000 settlement from the insurer based on his deceitful assertions, the offense reportedly unfolding on Jan. 27, 2024, according to the N.C. Department of Insurance.
Selected for custody release by Forsyth County Sheriff's Deputies and given only a written commitment to make a March 27th district court appearance, Falsion's alleged misconduct is part of the broader scourge of insurance fraud that strikes directly at the pockets of consumers—with Commissioner Causey stating in remarks obtained by NCDOI, "Insurance fraud hits consumers in the wallet," exposing the alarming figure that around 20 cents of every dollar devoted to insurance premiums feeds into offsetting the costs associated with fraudulent activities, his office is committed to staunchly confronting and prosecuting those who engage in such insurance fraud across North Carolina.
The N.C. Department of Insurance encourages anyone with inkling or evidence of insurance fraud or related white-collar malfeasance to step forward and inform authorities—assurance is given that one may do so anonymously by reaching out to the Criminal Investigations Division at 919-807-6840, or else by invoking the toll-free line made available to anyone within the state border at 888-680-7684.
