To tackle food insecurity within its community, the Dearborn Public Library has initiated a cereal drive to gather breakfast food for local families. Starting next Monday, the library will accept donations of unopened, still-in-their-factory-seal cereal boxes. The campaign will continue until the end of the month, wrapping up on March 31.
As the City of Dearborn reported on its official government site, this food drive is part of the library's broader mission to serve the community's needs beyond literary services. "The Dearborn Public Library is committed to supporting our community in various ways, and addressing food insecurity is a crucial part of that commitment," said Betty Adams, Director of the Dearborn Public Library, in the statement. She highlighted an underlying principle that drives the initiative: "We believe that no one should go hungry, and this cereal drive is one way we can help make a difference."
Those looking to contribute can drop off new cereal boxes at any one of the three Dearborn Library branches. The participating locations include the Bryant Branch Library at 22100 Michigan Ave, the Esper Branch Library at 12929 Warren Ave, and the Henry Ford Centennial Library at 16301 Michigan Ave, all of which welcome donations during their standard operating hours.
