The Georgia Department of Corrections has recently named Delisha Bryant as the new Deputy Warden of Security at Valdosta State Prison, effective as of March 16. According to the GDC's official announcement, Bryant is now tasked with overseeing the operations related to the security of 1,185 male offenders as well as managing the staff at the facility.
Bryant's ascension through the ranks is a narrative of commitment and professional development within the GDC. "Delisha has been a dedicated and dependable leader while working her way up the ranks,” Commissioner Tyrone Oliver remarked in an announcement obtained by the Georgia Department of Corrections. Her career began at Autry State Prison in 2007 as a Correctional Officer, before transferring to Valdosta State Prison, where her trajectory included tenure as a Sergeant and Lieutenant, eventually rising to Unit Manager until her latest promotion.
With an educational background anchored in criminal justice from the Georgia Military College and further studies towards her bachelor’s degree currently underway, Bryant brings both academic credentials and extensive departmental training to her new role. Her training includes Basic Correctional Officer Training and participation in Sergeant’s Academy, affirming the department's confidence in her skills and experience.
