The Denton Firefighters Association Local 1291 recently celebrated the achievements and growth within the Denton Fire Department, holding an annual awards banquet on February 7th. The event, which served as both a retrospective and a nod to future promise, acknowledged several firefighters' exceptional service and welcomed new members into the ranks.
During the banquet, 25 recruits were officially brought into the department, symbolized by the ceremonial pinning of badges—a testament to the department's expansion and continued commitment to community safety. According to a social media post from Denton Fire Fighter's Association Local 1291, the event honored several firefighters with awards for their diligence and contributions.
Among the recipients, Trey Carr was named "Rookie of the Year," while Chris Hammond garnered "Firefighter of the Year." Cash Fortune took home the title of "Driver of the Year," and Brian Nalley was recognized as "Officer of the Year." Not to be overlooked, Jeremy Punches received the distinction of "Employee of the Year." Each award reflected personal commitment, skill, and the collective ethos of a department that prides itself on excellence.
Ward Morton, a long-serving member of the department's Executive Board, received a special acknowledgment. For his crucial role within the organization, the DFFA president granted Morton the title of Secretary Emeritus after 12 dedicated years.
