
Detroit police and fire officials are currently on the lookout for two men involved in an arson incident that took place on the city's west side. The suspects were caught on video at a gas station purchasing snacks shortly after setting a local automotive business ablaze in the early hours of December 8, 2024, as reported by ClickOnDetroit.
The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. at an auto business located on West McNichols Road, near Meyers Road. It was subsequent to this event, that surveillance footage from a Project Green Light gas station shows the pair buying snacks, including one of them drinking a blue Gatorade, according to Audacy. A red Dodge Caravan was recorded entering and exiting the gas station, believed to be the vehicle used by the suspects.
Authorities are keen on gathering information from the public that could aid in identifying the arsonists. One suspect has been described as a Black male, with medium complexion and braided hair, donned in a black hoodie, jeans, and black shoes that bear white trim. The other is described as a Black male, light complected with braids, wearing a black hoodie and dark jeans, along with dark shoes, as FOX 2 Detroit reported.
The motive and damage from the arson at the auto shop have not been revealed. The Detroit Fire Investigation Division, made up of the Detroit Police and Fire Departments, is handling the investigation, as per Audacy.
