Doña Ana County Fire Rescue's Deputy Chief Yvonne Feijoo, MPA, has marked a rare achievement for New Mexico's firefighters, securing three prestigious designations. As reported by Doña Ana County, Feijoo completed the professional credentialing process, granting her the titles of "Chief Fire Officer," "Fire Marshal," and "Chief Training Officer," indicating a career dedicated to the advancement of fire and emergency services.
According to the officials at Doña Ana County, with this accomplishment, Feijoo becomes the only firefighter in New Mexico to simultaneously bear the distinctions of all three credentials. Joining a select group within the state, she stands among 11 individuals who have the Chief Fire Officer designation, four with the Fire Marshal, and just two wielding that of Chief Training Officer.
The voluntary designation program, administered by the Commission on Professional Credentialing®, evaluates candidates based on seven core components consisting of experience, education, professional development, professional contributions, association membership, community involvement, and technical competence. Feijoo's ability to meet these stringent criteria is a testimony to her excellence in the field.
Through a comprehensive peer review model, the Commission on Professional Credentialing® bestows its designations. Recipients, like Feijoo, are challenged to undertake continuous professional growth, active association membership, and dynamic community involvement, all while abiding by an exacting code of professional conduct, to maintain their credentials valid for three years.
