As the remnants of winter weather give way to the burgeoning efforts of springtime yard maintenance, Douglas County residents can breathe a sigh of relief knowing there's a one-stop solution for disposing of yard waste. According to Douglas County, the Slash-Mulch/Green Yard Waste drop-off site, located at 1400 Caprice Drive in Castle Rock, is set to open on April 5. This site is primed to serve locals every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through October, weather permitting.
To efficiently manage to start using the site, visitors are urged to separate their waste materials into Slash items, comprising tree limbs, pine needles, and brush from Green Yard Waste, which includes grass and leaves. This segregation aids in ensuring a quicker drop-off and correct disposal of materials. If the weather looks iffy, residents can call 303-663-6274 for updates on site availability. Later in the season, the county promises free mulch, a boon for the garden-savvy and environmentally conscious alike.
Additionally, for those with smaller loads of waste and in need of a year-round disposal option, Douglas County provides a nearby facility that operates on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This second location, found at 7828 S. Colo. 67, just 2.5 miles north of Deckers, caters to individuals with limited amounts of yard debris.
