Earlier this morning, a driver experienced a harrowing moment as his SUV ended up in a retention pond in Ocoee. The Ocoee Police Department reported that they, alongside firefighters, responded to the scene near Colonial Drive and Blackwood Avenue following the incident, which occurred around 7:15 a.m. The submerged vehicle, spotted near Orlando Health - Health Central Hospital, was captured on video by Sky 6, appearing to be a gray SUV partially below water.
Ocoee Fire Rescue was quick to act, rushing to help the individual trapped inside the sinking SUV. With the vehicle continuing to sink almost completely, the rescue team worked swiftly and successfully to extract the driver. According to WFTV, the driver was quite scared when his vehicle splashed unexpectedly into the pond.
Back-up support from Orange County Fire Rescue played a crucial role in the rescue operation. They reported that, fortunately, no injuries or medical transports were required after the driver was extracted from the SUV. This statement was corroborated by information provided by the law enforcement agency involved.
