A man lost in the woods of Convis Township was located with the help of a drone. The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call around 9:30 p.m. Monday reporting a man yelling in the woods north of Marshall on a cold night, according to WOODTV.
The responding deputies discovered a 47-year-old woman from Houghton Lake inside a car located at the dead end of Q Drive North. She reported that her boyfriend, a 48-year-old man from Clio, did not return after getting out of the car to take a break during their trip back home from Mississippi. As the situation escalated, Battle Creek Police Department efficiently deployed a drone, which became instrumental in locating the missing individual, "critical in locating the individual on a cold 30-degree night," as per statement by the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office as cited by WOODTV.
The drone quickly located the man just ten minutes into its flight. He was found 250 yards from his vehicle, lying in tall grass but alert, according to a release from the sheriff’s office. He was safely escorted back and taken to Oaklawn Hospital for medical evaluation. This swift resolution was made possible by the combined efforts of the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office and the Battle Creek Police Department, as highlighted by WKZO.
