Residents of Duncanville are soon to experience a shift in their waste management routine. To bolster sanitation efficiency, Republic Services will partner with the City of Duncanville to roll out a new Trash Cart Pilot Program. Scheduled for early April 2025, this trial will extend to 300 select households and supply them with wheeled trash and recycling carts, as per an announcement on the City of Duncanville.

The revamped system aims to quickly and effectively gather customer feedback while curbing problems such as litter and unwelcome critters in neighborhoods. In preparation, Republic Services is sending detailed letters to the affected homes. These homes are to start using the new carts at their regular collection spots on scheduled pickup days, without needing to be present for cart delivery.

To further engage with the community, Republic Services and city officials will convene a series of Community Meetings at the D.L. Hopkins Jr. Senior Center. Set for March 25, March 26, and April 2, all at 6:30 PM, these gatherings will provide a platform for discussions and queries regarding the upcoming changes in waste collection protocols.

The undertaking enfolds with no direct cost to the participating residents—Republic Services is footing the bill for the carts, as explained by the press release. It is imperative, though, for residents to note that these carts will accommodate household trash and recycling exclusively. The change does not include yard waste or hazardous materials. Moreover, the pickup schedule will persist unaltered. Residents should continue to set out their trash no earlier than 12:01 AM and no later than 7:00 AM on their designated collection days.
