Duncanville residents can don gloves and wield trash bags for a noble cause during the 2025 Don't Mess with Texas Trash-Off. As detailed in the city's official announcement, this initiative is Texas' banner event for litter cleanup and will take off on April 5, from 9 AM to 11 AM. Those ready to join forces with neighbors and help maintain the city's charm can converge at Duncanville Parks to take a stance against unsightly trash.
According to the City of Duncanville, the two-hour cleanup spree, a community endeavor, ensues under the umbrella of the Keep Texas Beautiful program. This program strives to engage citizens to care for their environment directly and proactively. Mayor Greg Contreras said, "Keeping Duncanville clean is a team effort." He encouraged everyone "to come out, roll up their sleeves, and show their pride in our city." Supplies to ensure the safety and efficiency of volunteers, including gloves, trash bags, and safety vests, will be provided to support the cleanup mission.
But it's not just about picking up litter; the event is also a platform for young artists to shine. Keep Duncanville Beautiful has launched two art competitions to bridge creativity with environmental awareness. While youngsters from K through 5th grade can participate in a coloring competition with a promise of a pizza party for the class with the highest involvement, students in grades 6 through 12 can try to compete to design Duncanville's official litter campaign, with top-tier tech goods like a PlayStation 5 and iPad up for grabs. Submissions can be managed easily through the See My Legacy platform, encouraging widespread participation and seamless coordination.
