EAH Housing has opened the application process for the Kai Olino Family Apartments on Kaua‘i. The project had some delays, including a fire during construction. The Kai Olino Family Apartments, managed by EAH Housing, is introducing affordable housing near Hanapēpē Bay, close to the ‘Ele‘ele Shopping Center, schools, and medical services, according to the County of Kauai.
The initial 23-unit building opened its waitlist on Monday, with a March 24 deadline and a March 25 lottery via Zoom. The second building, offering 27 units, follows with a waitlist opening on Saturday, an April 7 deadline, and an April 8 lottery. A third 23-unit building is expected in early 2026. The development aims to revitalize the area with two- and three-bedroom units, catering to diverse residents, as reported by the County of Kauai.
"Together with our partners at EAH Housing, we are confident that Kai Olino Family Apartments will become a thriving community where generations of Kaua‘i families can live, grow, and prosper," said Makani Maeva, President of Āhē Group, in announcing the collaboration. The project prioritizes essential workers and educators, offering rental rates based on 30% to 100% of the area median income to accommodate diverse financial situations. Interested applicants can apply through the EAH Housing website, and those needing assistance are encouraged to contact Steve Franco for support, as stated by the County of Kauai.
