An early morning accident last Friday on Highway 140 in Jackson County claimed the life of a pedestrian. The Oregon State Police were called to the scene at 6:04 a.m. after a white Nissan Frontier pickup truck collided with a pedestrian. The unfortunate event occurred near Blackwell Road, an area reported to be non-illuminated, possibly raising questions about the visibility and safety of pedestrians in such regions.
The driver of the pickup truck, identified as 47-year-old Jerid William Gunter from Medford, was traveling eastbound when the crash happened. According to the Oregon State Police, Naomi Hope Gomez, aged 39 from Glendale, was the pedestrian struck and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is helping the Oregon State Police with the crash investigation. More details are expected as the investigation continues.
