Last night, the harsh sound of gunshots disrupted the familiar streets of the South Side Entertainment District. According to the City of Pittsburgh Public Safety announcement, Pittsburgh Police officers were on duty when they quickly had to shift gears to respond to a shooting at approximately 2:45 a.m., near the corner of East Carson Street and South 18th Street.

In a scene that has sadly become all too common, gunshots were fired, hitting an adult male who was simply driving through the intersection. Officers nearby quickly rushed to assist, administering first aid to help stabilize him. The victim was shot in the buttock but remained alert and able to communicate with responders. Witnesses were likely relieved that he could still express his pain. EMS later transported him to a nearby hospital, where his condition was reported as stable.

Simultaneously, police detained another adult male suspect at the scene, escorting him to Police Headquarters where he was held for questioning regarding the incident. The investigation was underway as Violent Crime Unit detectives got to work.
