
Over the weekend, Ed Ragain, a name well-known in the Colorado Springs sports scene, was awarded the Spirit of Colorado Springs Award by Mayor Yemi Mobolade. Ragain, the founder and former owner of the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, was recognized for his leading role in fostering the city's sports culture. According to the City of Colorado Springs, the mayor bestowed the accolade to celebrate Ragain's leadership and community spirit.
Mayor Yemi praised Ragain for his vibrant leadership that has "transformed the sports landscape" of Colorado Springs. "Ed’s leadership reflects the spirit of collaboration and excellence that we celebrate with the Spirit of Colorado Springs Award," Mayor Yemi stated, as per the City of Colorado Springs. Earning a reputation as an accomplished engineer, before his foray into the sports world, Ragain led ME Engineers to become a global authority in engineering design, providing groundbreaking lighting design guidelines for premier sports organizations.
Ragain's contributions extend deep into the sports engineering field, setting high industry standards and influencing major sports bodies like FIFA and the NFL. His shift into sports entrepreneurship saw him establishing the Switchbacks, who recently netted a Western Conference Championship and the USL Championship Title in 2024. These accomplishments highlight how Ragain's efforts have redefined the sports character of the Olympic City USA.
