Two firefighters from the El Dorado County Fire Protection District were injured while responding to a residential fire last week. The fire, initially reported as a chimney fire, escalated last Thursday evening. One firefighter suffered serious burns, according to the El Dorado County Fire Protection District.
Last Thursday at 9:17 PM, emergency crews responded to a fire at Lonesome Dove Court. The fire had spread to the attic. During the response, the Fire Captain sustained burn injuries and was taken to UC Davis Medical Center, where his condition is stable. Another firefighter suffered a minor leg injury and was treated at Mercy Hospital of Folsom and released, as reported by the El Dorado County Fire Protection District.
Firefighting teams quickly contained the fire, and the cause is under investigation. Support has been offered by the El Dorado County Fire Protection District, El Dorado County Professional Firefighters Association, Firefighters Burn Institute, and IAFF Foundation Burn Fund. The fire department has the situation under control and does not require external aid at this time.
