A recent report from the El Paso Police Department has marked the city's 11th traffic fatality of the year, involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck at the crossroads of Resler and Tierra Taos. As per the El Paso Police Department, the incident occurred when a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle, heading northbound on Resler, collided with a Nissan Frontier traveling westward on Tierra Taos.
The motorcycle, which struck the driver's side door of the Nissan, led to both occupants of the car suffering minor injuries and a tragically different outcome for the motorcyclist, who was hurled from the bike. Initially taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, the rider succumbed to their injuries the following day. Racing to the scene, the Special Traffic Investigations unit found that the Nissan Frontier had failed to yield the right-of-way and that speed from the Kawasaki Ninja contributed to the severity of the crash.
The loss of life marks a somber statistic in the city's traffic records, slightly trailing the previous year's count at this time, which stood at 12 fatalities. This latest accident underscores the ongoing challenges that El Paso faces when it comes to ensuring roadway safety for all of its citizens whether they travel on four wheels or two.
