The aftermath of the explosion saw first responders and staff members working diligently to ensure residents had a place to go, many were seen being loaded onto buses in the afternoon, Lakewood resident Amy Phelps was among those awaiting word on relocations, Phelps, who rushed over after receiving a text from a former Eastern Star employee, stood on a nearby lawn seeking information about her father-in-law's whereabouts and the expected duration of his displacement according to The Denver Post.
Investigations following the extinguishing of the initial fire highlighted additional concerns, notably the building's sprinkler system being triggered, a factor that prompted deeper inquiry and led to the discovery of the explosion "Preliminary investigations were able to determine that something else was going on inside the building, and one of those factors was the sprinkler system," Denver Fire Department spokesman Greg Cedillo said, as obtained by 9News.
