Yesterday evening, chaos briefly ensued at the Motel 6 on Holiday Lane, where a man with a gun reportedly shot at two individuals. The Fairfield Police Department disclosed that the incident took place around 5:45 pm, and upon their arrival, they found one victim with non-life threatening injuries caused by shattered glass rather than gunfire, as initially feared.
Witnesses at the scene rapidly pointed officers towards the room where the armed individual had retreated. The motel's guests were ordered to shelter as police established a perimeter, bringing in the department’s armored vehicle, the Bearcat, to ensure safety. The Fairfield Police Department reported that they "quickly contacted the suspect via phone in his motel room and, after brief negotiations, the man exited the room and was taken into custody without incident."
The suspect, now in police custody, has been identified as 63-year-old Fairfield resident Mario Moore. While the Fairfield Police continue their investigation, evidence collected at the scene has already corroborated the occurrence of a shooting. Fortunately, there were no fatalities or serious injuries reported as a result of the incident.
