A family dispute ended in tragedy Monday morning when a son allegedly stabbed his father to death north of the Las Vegas Strip. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said the altercation occurred in the 1900 block of Rexford Drive, a residential area close to the bustling heart of the city.

The incident was first reported around 7:30 a.m. after a woman, reportedly in her 20s, called 911 claiming her brother was attacking their father. Upon arrival, officers from the Downtown Area Command found the suspect and detained him, while discovering their father suffering from multiple stab wounds. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, the 50-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by FOX5 Vegas.

The preliminary investigation suggests that an argument between the father, who was 50, and his son, who is in his 30s, escalated when the son allegedly grabbed a knife from the kitchen and commenced the stabbing. Neighbors expressed their shock and discomfort to Channel 13, with one resident, Lex Fender, stating, "Well, shock at first, you know you think something like that would never happen." Another local, Lonnie Lasenbby who takes daily strolls down Rexford Drive said, "It's a little creepy, that's creepy, now the thought is in my head now, it was never in my head before now, when I walk, I don't know what to say anymore."

Authorities believe the incident was isolated, with no ongoing threat to public safety. The suspect's identity has not been released as the police continue their investigation into the events of that tragic morning.
