The Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas is now facing a wrongful death lawsuit after a tragic incident involving a revolving door that led to the death of a guest. Diana Truschke, 78, suffered severe injuries when she was unexpectedly struck and launched from the hotel's revolving door in March 2023. She passed away more than a year later, on Oct. 14, 2024, from complications related to the incident, as reported by 8 News Now.
According to the lawsuit filed by the woman's son, John Truschke, the hotel failed to maintain the doors by safety standards or to warn guests about the potential danger. His mother was described as a guest and patron of the Defendant. when the revolving doors accelerated, they hit her from behind and threw her onto her face. "Due to complications from injuries" sustained during the incident, Truschke's health "continued to deteriorate," which ultimately led to her death, deemed a "natural consequence of the negligence of the hotel property," according to the language used in the lawsuit cited by 8 News Now.
The family has launched the lawsuit in Clark County District Court, seeking $15,000 in damages, which stands as the state's minimum for such cases. Although there has been no official comment from Trump International Hotels as of yet, the legal claim emphasizes the hotel's responsibility for informing staff and patrons of any known hazards, including faulty doors, that could pose a safety risk.
Representatives for Trump International Hotels have been contacted by FOX5 Vegas for a statement, yet no comments have been released, and a hearing for the lawsuit has not been scheduled. The unfortunate event brings to light the critical nature of maintaining operational safety in public spaces, and this lawsuit may push other establishments to revisit their safety procedures to prevent similar tragedies.
