
Am incident unfolded last night when a two-vehicle collision resulted in one fatality and left another person injured. The accident occurred around 7:35 p.m. on M-51 Highway near County Road 215 in Hamilton Township, according to WOODTV. A 31-year-old man from Decatur, driving a Ford car, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been publicly released while the family is being notified.
The other driver involved, identified as a 47-year-old Eau Claire man operating a GMC Yukon, sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment, WWMT reported. The condition of the injured man was not available at the time of report. Michigan State Police (MSP) Paw Paw Post responded to the emergency and are conducting an investigation into the incident. However, details on the causes of the crash remain inconclusive, including whether the drivers were wearing seat belts.
MSP also indicated that alcohol and/or drugs may have been contributing factors in the crash, although this has yet to be confirmed pending further investigation. At the scene, MSP received support from multiple agencies, including Van Buren EMS, Decatur-Hamilton Fire Department, Decatur Police Department, and Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department.
