The grim discovery was made early today, around 7:21 am, when CHP officers arrived. They found the body of a deceased male pedestrian just east of the roadway. A preliminary report suggests the individual was walking along Petaluma Blvd North during the nighttime before being fatally struck by a vehicle that then fled the scene. The victim remained unnoticed on the shoulder until daylight. At present, the identity of the deceased has not been released. This will come from the Sonoma County Sheriff Coroner's office.
