A sad atmosphere covered the Crafton neighborhood as emergency crews responded to a deadly house fire yesterday morning. According to WPXI, firefighters reported a fire at a residence on Chartiers Avenue around 10:46 a.m. Upon arrival, they found the rear of the house ablaze. During their efforts to control the fire, firefighters discovered a man on the first floor, who was pronounced dead on the scene after being removed from the building.
While extinguishing the flames, emergency personnel encountered an unexpected twist. Inside the residence, "suspicious devices" were located, prompting the Allegheny County Bomb Squad's involvement. Called out of precaution, the bomb squad thoroughly examined the house, as reported by WTAE.
The Fire Marshal is now leading an inquiry into the fire's origin, which remains undisclosed.
