Fife Police Investigate Suspected ICE Imposter Vehicle Outside Ukrainian Grocery StoreSource: Fife Police Department

The Fife Police Department is currently investigating an unsettling event involving a vehicle masquerading as one from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which had been surveilling a Ukrainian grocery store, Emish Market, in Fife. As detailed by KING5, the suspicious SUV was marked with "ICE" on its side and bore a circular emblem reminiscent of federal agents' badges.

Amidst a climate of uncertainty, patrons of Emish Market, which functions as a sanctuary for Ukrainians fleeing the conflict with Russia, found themselves potentially targeted by an entity imitating law enforcement. Store manager Olena Ray expresses to FOX13 Seattle, "We are very proud to offer Ukrainian food and traditional food to American market. It does feel like home. We use our language in here. We cook our food, we bring our products from Ukraine to support Ukrainians," said Ray. "So, it’s very important for us to have a cozy and safe environment for them."

An official statement received from an ICE spokesperson by KOMO News strongly denounces this impersonation as "dangerous but illegal."

The police are calling for any individuals with information on the impersonating vehicle to come forward as part of the ongoing investigation, indicating the seriousness of the matter and the potential threat it poses not just to immigrants.
