A month-long manhunt came to an end yesterday as Ubong Esiere, the third and final suspect in the February 19 fatal shooting on Leawood Boulevard, was apprehended. Charged with murder, Esiere, 34, now faces the judicial system in the 486th State District Court. Police have also confirmed that two other individuals, Tracy Burleson and Mackenly Nohemy Palomo Medina, are implicated in the case, facing charges of murder and burglary, respectively.
The tragic narrative unfolded when HPD patrol officers were called to an apartment complex at 9700 Leawood Boulevard after reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Terry Meza Jr., 34, unresponsive from gunshot wounds. Despite the prompt response of the Houston Fire Department paramedics, Meza Jr., was later declared deceased at an area hospital. Investigators, through diligent work, identified three suspects, including Esiere, whose booking photo has been released.
According to the City of Houston news release, Palomo Medina was taken into custody on February 25, Burleson followed shortly after on February 27. Their charges pertain specifically to their involvement in the incident that led to Mr. Meza Jr.'s untimely demise. Esiere's capture was executed by the collaborative efforts of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force and HPD Southeast Division’s Crime Suppression Team.
