A disturbing act of animal cruelty emerged from Fort Pierce, Florida, as 42-year-old Salomon Cruz-Perez stands accused of hanging two dogs in his backyard, leading to their death. FOX 13 News reported that St. Lucie County Sheriff's deputies found the deceased animals, a male, and a female, suspended by their necks from a tree using an assortment of ropes and chains.

Deputies had initially responded to a civil disturbance at Cruz-Perez's residence when they encountered the gruesome scene. Yet, details on what precipitated the dogs' hangings remain elusive, this happening Sunday evening shortly before 5:30 p.m., as per statements obtained by the sheriff’s office and reported by WPTV. After discovering the dogs, detectives obtained a search warrant revealing that coaxial cable, paracord, tie-down straps, and chains were used to bind them.

The backstory to this horrific incident involves Cruz-Perez's failed attempt to have the dogs euthanized legally, after which he reportedly resorted to this fatal method. Susan Parry with United for Animals echoed the community's call for justice, urging the state attorney's office to "absolutely prosecute to the maximum law," shared during a WPTV interview.

Cruz-Perez was taken into custody and is currently held at St. Lucie County Jail on a $60,000 bond, facing two counts of aggravated animal cruelty resulting in death. The remains of the two dogs have been sent to Orlando for a necropsy to determine the precise cause and manner of death, the bleak reality of their fate laid bare in a silent call for justice for the voiceless.
