In a city where tradition blends with innovation, the Fort Worth Fire Department stands out with a distinctive choice that sets it apart from the common red-and-chrome palette dominating fire departments nationwide.
Fort Worth's fire trucks bear a coat of white, a decision rooted in history and practicality, which the department recently highlighted in a video shared on its official YouTube channel.
According to the City of Fort Worth, the choice to paint fire trucks white dates back to the 1950s. It was a time of experimentation and progress, when a study suggested that white fire trucks were indeed more visible during dawn and dusk, the critical time windows when visibility is at a premium.
