Four men have been arrested after the Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) and Pembroke Pines Police Department uncovered their involvement in a large-scale fuel theft operation across Broward County. NBC Miami reported that the men were arrested after they were caught siphoning diesel fuel from a local Wawa station.
The arrests took place Tuesday at a Wawa station located at 1675 West Oakland Park Boulevard in Oakland Park. Detectives from BSO’s Burglary Apprehension Team and the Pembroke Pines Police Department caught the men in the act. A Honda Odyssey was seen siphoning fuel through a hose from an underground tank, while two other vehicles, a Ford Expedition and a Ford Transit van, were used to store and transport the stolen fuel, as reported by NBC Miami.
The suspects have been identified as Noel Gonzalez Gonzalez, 34; Eusebio Noel Gonzalez Claro, 63; Orlando Diaz Cordero, 42; and Blas Junior Duran, 36.
Duran, Claro, and Gonzalez were taken into custody after a felony stop at the Chevron gas station, according to Local 10. Diaz was found and arrested in the Ford Transit van, which contained 1,000-gallon fuel tanks, near the original crime scene. The suspects face charges, including retail fuel theft, unlawful conveyance of fuel, and grand theft. As of this afternoon, Gonzalez Gonzalez remains in custody on an immigration hold.
