Residents in Plymouth and the surrounding areas will soon have the opportunity to become potential lifesavers, as a slate of free CPR and AED training sessions are on the calendar for this spring, thanks to Heart Safe Plymouth—a partnership of the Plymouth Public Safety Department and the Rotary Club of Plymouth, which aims to equip the community with crucial skills in emergency response, as reported by the City of Plymouth.

The upcoming free training classes are on offer for teenagers and adults alike, aiming to teach participants effective hands-only CPR, a technique that involves chest compressions without the need for mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).

According to the city’s announcement, classes are set to take place at Plymouth City Hall/Public Safety Building, located at 3400 Plymouth Blvd., with each session accommodating up to 35 participants, a manageable number to ensure that everyone receives the attention necessary for mastering these skills, the dates set for these crucial trainings are April 3 and 17, as well as May 8 and 15, with all events running from 7-8:15 p.m.

For local groups or businesses looking to arrange a private training session, they can schedule one free of charge by calling 763-772-7671 or sending an email to [email protected], and for more details about the role of the Rotary Club of Plymouth in supporting Heart Safe Plymouth, their website is a click away at rotaryplymouth.org.
