The City of Glendale is seeking artists to enhance its downtown space, specifically to add flair to the south building façade of City Hall, as part of the Downtown Campus Reinvestment Project. This opportunity is more than just adding color to the walls—the selected artwork will serve as a cornerstone of the city's visual and cultural identity. According to Christopher Taylor, Glendale's Arts and Culture Administrator, "The City of Glendale is poised to embrace new industries, innovation, and growth opportunities that elevate its brand as a community of choice, which embodies its mission to improve the lives of the people we serve every day," as stated in an announcement on their website.
Wanna throw your hat in the ring? You've got to be a seasoned pro or at least teamed up with one and be over 18, with local and regional artists getting a welcoming nudge to step up. Registration to bid is a must and can be done through a simple click on their Vendor Registration link, which starts the journey to potentially nabbing this commission; however, keep in mind that the official dog and pony show starts once you get registered in the Vendor Self-Service portal, and that's where you’ll submit your proposals, which are due by April 11.
Don't dawdle—on May 20, the Glendale Arts Commission will cast their votes and select the winning artist. The chosen artist's name will be officially recorded on June 24 when the final contract is signed, marking the start of the design process. For questions or more details, contact the City of Glendale's Arts and Culture Department at [email protected]. If you have the skills and the passion, this could be your chance to leave a lasting mark on Glendale's artistic landscape.
