Continuing efforts to strengthen the Texas business community's readiness and resilience in the face of disasters, Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed two experienced professionals, Aaron Negherbon and Patricia Rigney, to key roles on the Business Advisory Council to the Texas Division of Emergency Management. Their new terms are slated to expire at the beginning of February 2029, as stated in an official announcement from the Governor's office.
Acknowledged for their expertise and dedication, Negherbon brings his background as CEO of organizations directly supporting the needs of troops and law enforcement, while Rigney, hailing from Edinburg, contributes her nearly two decades of legal experience, serving in diverse roles within the justice system and actively engaging in community service. Negherbon is also recognized for playing a key role as a board member of the Stonebridge Ranch Country Club Charity Classic, returning to the council that aims to help Texas businesses bounce back post-disaster.
On the credentials front, Aaron Negherbon holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Marketing from the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business. He's not just a business leader but also a figure in philanthropy through his roles with Troops Direct and Cops Direct. On the other hand, Patricia Rigney earned her stripes with a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Texas Pan American and further sharpened her legal acumen with a Juris Doctor from the UT School of Law.
Rigney is deep-rooted in community service, serving as vice president of the Texas City Attorneys Association-Rio Grande Valley Chapter, and dutifully keeping a watchful eye over responsible practice through her chairing of the State Bar of Texas Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee. In addition to her new appointment, her life's work is marked by its devotion to law and justice, having practiced as an assistant United States attorney and serving as city attorney for the City of Mission. In her role as owner of Rigney Law Firm, Patricia Rigney represents not just legal clients, but also her investment in local initiatives, evidenced through her membership on various boards and committees, such as The Edinburg Public Library Advisory Board and the CASA-RGV Board of Directors.
