After weeks of investigation, the Perris Sheriff's Station Special Enforcement Team has taken a child predator into custody. Jimmy Perez, a 39-year-old Hacienda Heights man, who allegedly agreed to meet and engage in sexual acts with an individual he believed was a 13-year-old girl, has been arrested by deputies. The undercover operation, which began in early February, involved law enforcement posing as a minor to intercept potential criminal behavior online, as reported by the Riverside County Sheriff's Office.
Through deliberate strategies aimed at quickly apprehending and bringing Perez to justice, deputies arrested him on Tuesday without incident at his residence. The arrest followed his conversations with undercover officers, during which he requested sexually explicit material and behaviors characteristic of predatory intent.
Following the arrest, investigators executed a search warrant at Perez's home, seizing multiple communication devices as part of their inquiry, as per the Riverside County Sheriff's Office. Charged on several counts including arranging to meet a minor for sex, contacting a minor with intent to commit sexual acts, and attempting lewd acts with a minor, Perez's actions represent a grievous breach of community trust. He now faces a bail set at $550,000 at Cois Byrd Detention Center.
